Capt. Roy Morris Selected as New Regional Law Enforcement Supervisor for East Central GA

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Wildlife Resources Division (WRD) recently selected Capt. Roy Morris as the new Regional Supervisor for the Region III Law Enforcement Office, headquartered in Thomson. He fills the position that was left vacant by Lt. Col. Jeff Weaver, who was promoted to the position of Assistant Chief of Law Enforcement. Region III encompasses the east central part of the state.

“Captain Roy Morris will be an excellent Regional Supervisor,” say WRD Chief of Law Enforcement Col. Ron Bailey. “He is committed to his associates, his command staff and to the mission and vision of the Department.”

A WRD Law Enforcement Regional Supervisor must be able to perform several duties. These include: providing positive leadership; supervising regional personnel; enforcing game and fish laws, environmental laws, the Georgia boating safety act and all applicable DNR laws, rules and regulations; attending and assisting with the coordination of training sessions; planning training projects based on state mandated management goals and objectives and handling administrative responsibilities related to regional operations.

Capt. Roy Morris began his career with DNR in 1974. He studied Law Enforcement and Agriculture Extension (which included wildlife conservation) at the University of Georgia and also graduated from the Northeast Georgia Police Academy (where he received the Top Gun Award). He worked flood detail in Albany during 1994 where he supervised the night shift duties. Morris also supervised instructors and counselors during a statewide Outdoor Wildlife Camp in both 1998 and 1999.
