Governor Signs Bill Creating More Customer Friendly Hunting Fishing Licenses

Governor Sonny Perdue announced today that he has signed House Bill 326, making customer service improvements to Georgia's resident hunting and fishing licenses and market-based adjustments to nonresident licenses. HB 326 was sponsored by Sen. Ross Tolleson and Rep. Bob Lane.

"House Bill 326 will allow Georgia's sportsmen more flexibility in their license purchases," said Governor Perdue. "There are many discounted licenses available now as well as the opportunity to purchase multiple year licenses and hunting and fishing privileges together in one license."

The bill authorizes a $2.75 discount to all license holders who renew their hunting or fishing license prior to its expiration, simplifies license requirements by eliminating the primitive weapons license, reduces the cost of a Sportsmen License and allows resident sportsmen to purchase a two-year license for a reduced cost.

"Sportsmen have an enormous economic impact on our state," said Sen. Tolleson. "Georgia remains a premier location for hunting and fishing, and these common sense reforms will be very popular with those who love the outdoors."

"HB 326 improves customer service for Georgia's hunting and fishing enthusiasts," said Rep. Lane. "Residents and visitors can enjoy our state's natural beauty from the North Georgia mountains to the Golden Isles."

Sportsmen can purchase hunting and fishing licenses by accessing www.georgiawildlife.com and clicking on "Recreational Licenses," calling 1-800-366-2661 or visiting a local retail location (a list of retail locations can be found at www.georgiawildlife.com ).
